Can I use this if I don't have a period anymore?

Yes, as long as you have ovaries, you can test. Periods are optional here at Proov. However, please note that any hormones (bioidentical, birth control, etc) will affect your hormone test results.

I'm on hormonal birth control or HRT, can I still use this test?

Yes, you can still log your symptoms, track your hormones, and connect with a medical professional, just note any hormones you are taking will affect your hormone results. Most forms of birth control that contain synthetic estrogen and/or progesterone will decrease levels of natural hormones and as a result Proov FSH, E1G, and PdG levels will be lower. Optimal hormone ranges displayed in the Proov app are based on the levels the body naturally produces before menopause. Hormone replacement (HRT) levels could be different from these levels. We advise you to reach out to your doctor with any questions.

Will this tell me if I'm in menopause?

No, only a medical professional can diagnose menopause, but we can tell you all about your hormones, how they correlate with your symptoms, and where you sit along the 5-10 year path from normal cycles to menopause.

We will even connect you to a medical provider at MIDI to review your results and get prescription medication support (if that is your thing).

How is this different than a blood test my doctor would do?

We measure your hormones in urine instead of blood. This allows us to get a snapshot of your levels without needles or lab visits. Blood tests are typically a single day, but Empower lets you track your hormones over 4 timepoints to see how your hormones change over time. This is important since most symptoms are due to changing hormones. So we can catch what that single blood test is missing
