Huge News for Proov: We’re Clinically Validated!

Written by:, PhD, Founder and Inventor of the Proov test — the first and only FDA-cleared test to confirm successful ovulation at home.

When women are trying to conceive or dealing with infertility, knowing if they ovulated can be important knowledge during their journey. The only way for women to confirm 100%, without a doubt they ovulated, is to get an ultrasound of their ovaries. But this is inaccessible in many cases, as access to an ultrasound can be expensive and inconvenient. The good news is that there is an alternative - an easy and reliable way to confirm ovulation without ultrasound, but high accuracy. In a recent study, researchers showed that both serum (blood) progesterone levels AND urine pregnanediol glucuronide (PdG) - which is a urine metabolite of progesterone - levels can confirm ovulation in over 98% of women.

Proov is the first at home test that can non-invasively measure PdG in urine, to enable women to monitor progesterone levels in the comfort of home. Here at Proov, we believe in the importance of reliable, accurate progesterone testing. This is why we are so excited to announce that Proov was recently featured in two new clinical studies!

In the first study, Proov was compared to serum (blood) progesterone testing and was clinically proven to accurately confirm ovulation in 95% of women. Additionally, Proov tests only become positive after ovulation – indicating no false positives.

In the other study, Proov confirmed sufficient ovulation – in other words, 3 positive tests in a row – in 82% of women. With 10-15% of cycles producing low progesterone, this is right in line with what we’d expect!

These studies are huge steps forward in validating Proov as a great, at home, non-invasive option for measuring progesterone and one that correlates to blood testing results!
