Want to Get Pregnant? Start by understanding your TUSHY

By Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh, aka The Egg Whisperer, board certified OBGYN, specializing in infertility and reproductive endocrinology

Most of us spend a good portion of our adult lives actively preventing pregnancy. We dutifully use contraception to maintain our parent-free status. But what happens when you reach a point in your life where you actually want the pregnancy line to boldly appear on an at-home test? What should you do to prepare? Can you even prepare? Or do you just start having sex, and lots of it?

The answer is yes. Preparation for a healthy pregnancy is key, and there are simple steps, and tests, you can take to set the foundation for an informed fertility journey. Sex is of course important, but timing and in-going knowledge is critical to help sex lead to pregnancy.

How do you get smart about your own fertility and chances of conceiving?

By checking your TUSHY.

My TUSHY?

Yes, that’s right, your TUSHY. It’s a tongue and cheek pneumonic I created to help my patients remember what’s important in understanding the full picture of their fertility health.

“T” in TUSHY stands for tubes (the fallopian tubes)

“U” in TUSHY stands for an ultrasound of uterus.

“S” in TUSHY stands for semen analysis.

“H” in TUSHY stands for hormone testing.

“Y” in TUSHY stands for your genetic profile.

If you’re hoping to shorten your path to a healthy pregnancy then it makes sense to get your TUSHY checked. Knowledge is power, but fertility knowledge is empowering. Check back over the next two weeks as we dive into each part of the TUSHY method!
