In fact, progesterone alone plays a role in our beauty.
Here at Proov, we tend to talk about our hormones in the context of fertility, i.e. how each cycle hormone impacts the chances of pregnancy. While it’s true that our reproductive hormones play critical roles in conception, sometimes we forget our cycle hormones impact other aspects of our lives.
In fact, progesterone alone plays a role in our beauty. Keep reading to learn more about how progesterone can enhance natural beauty...although you’re gorg as is!
What is progesterone and why is it important?
Progesterone is one of the two main female reproductive hormones (the other being estrogen). After ovulation occurs about midway through our cycle, the empty follicle from which the egg was released produces progesterone during the second half of your cycle.
Hormones are what make women, women. Together, progesterone and estrogen promote our natural beauty.
But how does progesterone enhance beauty?
By now you may be thinking, That’s great information and all, but can progesterone really enhance beauty? And we’re so glad you asked!
In fact, a recent study shows progesterone can improve skin health. This study tested the effects of 2% progesterone cream on perimenopausal and menopausal women.
Above all, the study showed the progesterone cream significantly increased the elastic properties of the skin, basically meaning how well the skin can stay tight and hold its shape. It found those who used progesterone cream had less wrinkles, the wrinkles they did have were less deep, and their skin was firmer.
Along with the aforementioned study, another study* showed natural progesterone could be an effective option to help slow the natural process of aging. According to this study, “proper understanding and supplementation with natural progesterone promises to restore a healthy zestful life” (Lee 1994).
Additionally, studies show overall imbalances in hormone levels can lead to unwanted skin issues. More specifically, imbalances in estrogen and progesterone may cause dull or dry skin, breakouts, blemishes, dark spots, and fine lines.
Finally, progesterone has been linked to the famous “pregnancy glow.” Progesterone increases sebum (oil) production in skin, which can bring that nice shiny glow.
Another study showed natural progesterone could be an effective option to help slow the natural process of aging.
Why should I add progesterone to my beauty regimen?
Similar to makeup, serums, or a good outfit, topical progesterone helps us look good so that we feel good. Products which improve our skin health help us feel more beautiful and confident. And here at Proov we believe confidence is key!
If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably done it all to preserve your skin — quarterly facials, online skin analyzers, or expensive products. The cost of our skincare regimen adds up and, often, we may not be aware of the effectiveness of the ingredients in the products we use.
Bio-identical progesterone (found in topical progesterone beauty products) has the same chemical structure as the progesterone our body produces naturally. This means topical progesterone doesn’t actually introduce new progesterone to our skin; it just provides a boost of the good stuff!
How can I add topical progesterone to my beauty regimen?
Proov Balancing oil contains 2500 mg of natural progesterone.
The most common form of topical progesterone is progesterone cream (which we saw in the above studies). While progesterone creams can have an effect on your appearance, they may not be the most effective progesterone delivery option to the skin.
Progesterone oils, like Proov Balancing Oil, may be a better progesterone delivery option compared to creams because oils tend to have smaller molecules than creams. This means the progesterone in the molecules of oils has an easier time penetrating the skin and working it’s magic!
Proov Balancing Oil also contains MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) oil, which may help moisturize the skin, especially during the drier winter months. MCT oil may also reduce the appearance of stretch marks or wrinkles.
If you are still cycling, the best way to promote balanced skin with Balancing Oil is by using it the last 12 days of your cycle, when skin issues can occur. If you don’t have a cycle anymore, you’ll want to use Balancing Oil for three consecutive weeks, then stop using it for the fourth week.
Finally, Proov Balancing Oil also contains lemon oil to give you a fresh, lemony scent that delights the senses.
Progesterone can help enhance your natural beauty and help you walk through the world with confidence!
